How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
How do you think we are shaping up as things stand?

I personally think we are short of 4 quality players and we need to bring this number in. Hopefully Austin, Mirallas, Lanzini and Song or Rabiot.

Putting aside injuries, this is where I see each of our current players for this coming Premier League campaign:-

Current Squad
• Adrian – GK
• Carl Jenkinson – RB
• Angelo Ogbonna - CB
• Winston Reid (c) - CB
• Aaron Cresswell - LB
• Cheikhou Kouyate - CM
• Pedro Obiang - CM
• Dimitri Payet - AMC
• Enner Valencia – AML
(Another player needed)
• Diafra Sakho – CF

• Darren Randolph – On the bench
• James Tomkins – On the bench
• Mark Noble – On the bench
• Andy Carroll – On the bench
(So at least 3 more players needed)

• Raphael Spiegel – Squad Player
• James Collins – Squad Player
• Stephen Hendrie – Squad Player
• Leo Chambers – Squad Player
• Diego Poyet – Squad Player
• Martin Samuelson – Squad Player
• Elliot Lee – Squad Player

• Reece Burke – To be sent out on loan
• Doneil Henry – To be sent out on loan

• Kevin Nolan – To be sold
• Joey O'Brien – To be sold
• Morgan Amalfitano – To be sold
• Matt Jarvis – To be sold
• Modibo Maiga – To be sold/loaned/released
• Mauro Zarate – To be sold

For me we need someone who will play in front of the defence, keep the ball moving and put his foot in. Could be Poyet one day soon.
Otherwise a forward who offers something different and maybe some width.

If Bilic plays 3 at the back I'd like another centre half.

Agree with Peroni ~

Downing had several very good games as playmaker for us last season. Not the least bit effective as a wide player.

Whether it was his dip in form at the end of last year or whether opposition managers sussed out how to deal with him I don't know

His game at the early part of last season was the best I've seen him play at any time in his career

I wasn't keen when we signed him, but in fairness, he did a lot better than expected

To get the sort of money we got for him, as a 31 year old was an amazing bit of business

Put it this way, if we signed him for that money, at his age, I would be well pissed off

I wish him all the best though, seems like a nice enough lad by all counts

Nonsense.

Downing flattered to deceive last season and has done well to even make a living out of the game. When he was playing well last year all supporters of other clubs I spoke with cracked up when I said he was coming good. They were right, he wasn't, he just had a purple patch which will never be repeated.

He's a nice lad, but he's past it, and at his peak he was shit.

The point you make about Allardyce is laughable.

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
As usual we still need another goalscorer and that is surely our priority now.

I'd happilly take Austin at the moment.

We could do with losing Nolan and Maiga too.

Then providing we don't get too many injuries I think we could cope.

Idealy I'd ship out Jarvis and maybe Morgan and Zarate but I don't think we could replace and better all 3 and we need a big squad.

I am concerned about downing going. I also think had that had happened under Sam we'd all be up in arms about selling one of our best players.

He had a season with Real Betis in La Liga, so more like two seasons.

Randolph also had 3 seasons in the SPL, so he's well versed with the big-time.

We need them as goalkeepers ilfy son.

We have only one senior goalkeeper at present and he has only one real season of top level football under his belt.

We need a goalpoacher for the first team squad.

The Nigerian GREAVES named Udoh is worth a punt.

I really think we need a quality centre forward - wouldn't mind Austin, but the one we've been linked with I'd really like is Embolo.

Guzan is a goalie who would bring some experience to our custodians with Zelenika and or Bentley filling all the gaps in our goalkeeping department.and profiles.

We need at least one full back who is primarily a defender first and winging is not his main game.
